Native
Dwellings has been about character from day one. Character,
charm, craftsmanship and a big front porch is what has us
all driving through historic neighborhoods dreaming of living
there. Unfortunately, most of these beautiful homes are dysfunctional
and extremely inefficient. Native Dwellings is building homes
that have that charm and are increasingly becoming more efficient.
A new home we will be finishing in March of 2008 will be our
first “Green Home” that will have an “Energy
Star” rating. Character and efficiency are very important,
but so is function.
Most
older homes are very chopped up. There are many small rooms
that end up not getting used or become a place to store things.
When building a new home or renovating and old one, we like
to open the home up, so that it becomes more functional. We
believe in big rooms that flow into each other for multiple
purposes. We also feel very strongly about storage. We work
very hard to create the maximum amount of storage, so that
you can keep your home clutter free. These are just a few
of the custom practices we have with our clients.
Our
clients have customized help with their lighting plan, paint
colors, granite, flooring and trim work. We do tin ceilings,
shaker cabinets, natural gas generators, ventilated wood shelving
and so much more. However, character of the home remains our
focus. It’s important to us, it’s important to
our clients and it’s important to neighborhoods. Four-sided
stucco box homes that remind you of Taco Bell were not meant
to be in some of our neighborhood’s.
